Technical customer service and engineering

poesia highly values personal advice and trusting partnerships in its work producing new seals. These are two fundamentals in the production of custom-made products – from the idea to the finished product, all according to individual customer specifications.

When developing a new seal, the specialists from poesia like to take the time needed to provide their customers with their comprehensive expertise and years of experience. During their conversation, the technical specialists note the customer’s needs, requirements and specifications.

In the next step, the poesia engineering team discuss the project in order to seek first-class technical and aesthetic solutions in regular coordination meetings. All relevant questions are discussed in order to give the customer the right recommendations: Which production process and which material is best suited for later use in the field of application in question? Should TPE, silicone, EPDM or another material be used? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each material? How can legal requirements and conformity be ensured? Most solutions are found not in the standard range but in products developed individually for the customer.

Once all questions have been clarified, the customer advisor prepares an offer. After the order has been placed, Poesia develops a prototype produced on the basis of the CAD plans using a 3D printer. This sample is produced in a hard or soft version with a length of up to around 80 millimetres and symbolises hard plastic or the soft components. The production of the prototype may be included in the offer and will be charged accordingly.

Sample production

To ensure that the product stands the test in real-life applications, sample production is necessary. For this small series, a production tool is created and 10 to 20 meters of the seal are produced with the material selected. Now the customer has the opportunity to test the seal in real life and perform a functional check. Any necessary adjustments can then be made before approval is granted for series production.

Best practice

This approach to technical customer service and engineering has been tried and tested countless times and is used by poesia to develop new products and refine or optimise existing ones in the building and industrial sectors. This applies to any application where flexible connections have to form a seal. Exchange of information with the customer and the mutual trust are two important cornerstones of success. Depending on the complexity of the product, development takes between three weeks and two years. Our long-standing and satisfied customers include carpenters, metalworkers, sanitary fitters in the building sector, public transport companies and various industrial companies. For complex developments, a mutual confidentiality agreement is signed.
