poesia group with InflaSeal® inflatable seals

The inflatable gaskets (ABD) are a speciality of the poesia group. They are used for large sealing gaps, are easy to install and have many other advantages.

The poesia group has long since made a name for itself for efficient, reliable and environmentally friendly seals. Seals that are used in a wide variety of industries. With the acquisition of Herzog a few years ago, another important area has been added: inflatable seals.

Areas of application
This special type of seal is ideal for use in sliding doors, soundproof doors, test systems and in mechanical engineering, autoclaves, filling and conveyor systems, heating and climatic cabinets, rail transport, medical technology, pharmaceutical and chemical plants and food production.

Real problem solvers
The inflatable seals with the brand name InflaSeal® are used for large sealing gaps. Hydraulically or pneumatically controlled, they are used wherever release, holding, closing, opening or related tasks need to be fulfilled. They block, isolate, grip, protect and seal. This ensures, for example, that no undesirable temperature changes occur or liquids leak out in protected areas.

Shapes and material
InflaSeal® seals are made of EPDM or silicone. They are available as rings, in polygonal shapes, as straight lines or in a U-shape. What they have in common are the closed ends on both sides and their surface finish. They have no sharp edges or brows, which prevents cracks and air loss.
Only inflatable silicone seals that fulfil FDA (Food and Drug Administration) requirements are used for applications in the food sector.

Installation
The inflatable and elastic seals are installed in the three-sided groove, which is open towards the working side. To enable inflation, they are fitted with a connection piece or valve with external threads and a through hole for the medium inlet (e.g. air).

Planning for customised products
Most inflatable seals need to be customised, whereby a chamber profile is always the basis. The development of a new seal is always carried out in close co-operation between the customer and the poesia group's engineering department. For example, special solutions such as narrow radii or traverses are also possible. For customised applications, the mould costs are very modest compared to plastic injection moulds. To prevent bottlenecks, it is worth planning development and production at an early stage.

Conclusion
Inflatable seals fulfil a major customer need and offer an efficient cost/benefit ratio. They also offer features such as operational safety, space savings and a long service life.

quality
The poesia subsidiary herzog dichtungen ag is certified to ISO 9001 and fulfils the highest quality standards.

The poesia group employs around 70 people, including five apprentices. It operates at the main site in Unterkulm as well as at the external sites in Hochdorf and Urdorf. It produces and processes seals made of TPE, VMQ HTV, VMQ LSR, EPDM, NBR and FKM for applications in the construction, engineering, transport and food industries.
